The House of Bourg-le-Roi's embroidery

If you pass by Bourg-le-Roi (in the Sarthe near Alençon), do not hesitate to stop at " The House of the Embroidery and the History " of the Association Tourisme et Culture. If you are lucky, you will be welcomed by M Richard who will make for you discover the miracles which contains this museum. The passion will bring to explain you the technique of the embroidery to the point of Beauvais: since the creation of the drawing, by way of the copy, the assembly of the profession to arrive at the embroidery by itself. You can also look at a cassette (and why not to buy it) redrawing the History of the village and the Workshop of Embroidery, which counted to brodeuses 60 and closed in 1968, and so can everything on the way create an embroidery in the point of Beauvais.

Various professions, as below, will be presented to you: the biggest (to the left, more than four metres) was used by several brodeuses at the same time. The difficulty of the realization of big details, except the embroidery by it even, was to have brodeuses which worked in the same way: no difference of point was allowed. To the right a profession to embroider the leather gloves. On two of the walls, a gigantic embroidered fresco redraws a part of the history.
