PRESENTATION OF MUSEE CROZATIER

Here what you will be able to also discover with the wire of the stages of this splendid museum:

Paintings (second stage)

This collection was started with Becdelièvre which richly equipped it in paintings with the Scandinavian schools with XVIe at the XVIIIe centuries. A room is devoted to works of the François brothers and the local school of the XVIIe century. The XIXe century is represented by topographic sights of the area, and the paintings of large size sent by the State. The collection stops unfortunately at the dawn of the XXe century and is unaware of what occurred thereafter.

Natural science (third stage)

The collections of natural history (zoology, mineralogy, geology, entomology, botany, malacology) constituted the first core of the museum at the beginning of the 19nd century. It is probable that certain specimens go back to this time (lynx, seagull, wolf...).

Paleontology (third stage)

The collections are of first importance for two key periods of the history of the evolution of the alive one: the transition from the higher Eocene and the Oligocene inferior (30 million years) and the hinge of the villafranchien (between 3 and 1 million years) with tropical faunas...
The exposed fossils come from sites of Haute-Loire, particularly rich and well-known since the middle of the XIXe century.

TWO WORKS EMBLÉMATIQUES OF THE MUSEUM (GROUND FLOOR)

Fits with body of Vachères

This car is of a type which, in the current language, was called fits with body, but the specialists called it "Truck with the Frenchwoman". She is composed of a frame, four wheels and a case putting back on long leather thin straps known as "long supports". The cars of the XVIIIe century are rare. This example of a car "at the Frenchwoman" builds in France before the Revolution seems single in the Museums.

The mummy

The mummy of this woman who lived towards - 600 front. J.C., of which one knows nothing, not even its name, because "Hat Nofit" informs us about his quality of lady of house - we would say housewife - arrived very early at Le Puy, and joined the collections of the museum as of their formation. It entered the collections of the museum at the beginning of the XIXe century.

Thanks to Mr. Grandjean, conservative of the museum, like with all his collaborators for their greeting and their kindness.
